tab-napping

Identity thieves can "use JavaScript to quietly change the contents and label of an open-but-not-active [browser] tab to resemble the log-in screen of a bank or credit card company or Amazon.com or Gmail", according to an article in PC world.
EDIT: It's not as bad as it looks - see below.

brand power

I was looking up reviews of stuff to record music with and came across this blog post, where they compare two products from Zoom and one from Sony. An audio file of the same recorded speech sample was put up for each so that viewers could listen to them and comment. Scrolling down the comments it's obvious that Sony blows the other two out of the water until one (smart Brazilian guy) points out that the sound files for the Sony and one of the others (the worst-ranked one, no less) were exactly the same! The audio clips have since been corrected but the comments remain (as of this post).
This more than anything has illustrated to me the power of blind, and double-blind, tests. Their popularity is growing but it ain't nearly enough.
