good news from Europe

Seems they're waking up. Antibiotic resistance is gonna be the most likely cause of the next pandemic. Factory farming will be the cause for this antibiotic resistance, and it's not like there's a huge social cost in trying to stop it. Europe takes the lead.

ode to a tree

hither and thither, peekity-boo
hello mr sparrow, how do you do?
the sun's barely risen on a cool cloudy day
yet here y'are already, zippin' away!

squizzle and squazzle, slither and squeeze
hey mr earthworm, ain't it a breeze?
the dew's made em soft and the wind's made em fall
green un's and brown un's, can't eat em all!

among life and motion, still stands the tree:
but all things considered, it's her blossoms that I
feel compelled to hold above all I see;
it's like they've soaked up some evening sky
to touch this grayness, and the gray inside me.

youtube

There was a time when you could perform a search on Youtube and see the ratings under every video that came up, as well as the 'related videos' that popped up on the right when you actually watched a video. That, alas, has gone the way of bell-bottoms and tube tops, and now there's no way to be sure that 'kitten fail HILarIOUS' is not some dork mouthing off about his latest obsession with a Twilight-themed gay metal troll band.

Google, I love thee; and better still, I respect thy decisions and genius on all thing to do with the web. But... why? Y u no have ratings anymore?

So here's how you get em back: first, use Firefox. Then, install Greasemonkey for your Firefox. Finally, install the YouTube Rate Everything script. Click on the install buttons throughout and hit 'agree' when it asks to donate your organs for scientific research.
